Guhiram Kisku is an Indian writer and poet who writes in the Santali language. He was awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar in 2019 for his poetry collection Jarpi Disomrin Manmi, recognising his contribution to contemporary Santali literature.[1][2]
Career
Guhiram Kisku is known for his poetry written in the Santali language, a language of the Santal tribal community in eastern India. His collection Jarpi Disomrin Manmi was selected for the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar in 2019, an award presented annually by the Sahitya Akademi, India's national academy of letters, to young authors for outstanding literary work in one of the officially recognised Indian languages.[2]
The Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar carries a cash prize, an engraved copper plaque, and citation and is intended to encourage writers under the age of 35 in their early literary careers.[1] His works have also been included in academic syllabi related to Santali language and literature, reflecting their relevance in higher education.[3]
